loch Kishorn with a pot of gold perhaps

Our two holiday homes, Woodside lodge and Pine lodge are situated in the small crofting township of Kishorn which is set in one of the most dramatic and beautiful, tranquill corners of the West Highlands of Scotland. Although Kishorn itself is extremely quiet and unspoilt, it is within easy reach of many places of interest along the West Coast and of course, the Highland capital, Inverness. The lodges provide breathtaking views of Loch Kishorn and the Applecross mountains. The village is a very quiet crofting township with traditional houses scattered along the shore and neighbouring hillsides. It has a very friendly, local shop called Patterns of Light (approximately one mile from the lodges - easy walking distance) which sells a good selection of artwork, crafts, books and gifts. The award winning Kishorn Seafood Bar is open during the summer months and very popular with tourists and locals alike (again approximately a mile from the holiday lodges). There is a wealth of art/craft studios in the local area including two well- known artists' studios in Kishorn itself.

Mountain bikes are available for hire at Lochcarron Garage. Tel: 01520 722205

Lochcarron, which is approximately 6 miles to the east of Kishorn, has a restaurant, three hotels and a café, plus a food centre, a butcher, filling station, and a doctors surgery.

a winter day at KishornFishing, walking, bird watching, deer stalking, golf and climbing are all activities that can be enjoyed within the breathtaking scenery of this part of the Highlands. A trip over the Bealach na Ba (Pass of the Cattle) to Applecross is a must, particularly if the return journey is taken along the coast road via Shieldaig. On the way, pause at Sand to walk on the beautiful unspoilt beach and enjoy the stunning views to the western isles of Raasay and Skye.
